Excessive Liposuction

When someone gets liposuction done, they want to keep the procedure as low risk as possible.  One thing they can do in order to minimize their risk is make sure the plastic surgeon is not intending on performing excessive liposuction.

There are two categories of plastic surgeons.  There are aggressive surgeons and cautious surgeons.  While you may think it is a good idea to use an aggressive surgeon in order to get as many things done as you can at one time, it is actually quite dangerous.  A cautious surgeon will minimize your risk.

In order to know what kind of surgeon you have, there are certain things you will want to look for.  You will then know how safe the procedure will be.  Mainly, you want to make sure your surgeon is not going to take part in excessive liposuction.

First, you need to make sure your surgeon is not intending on removing an excessive amount of fat from an area on your body.  When an excessive amount is removed, it can cause additional trauma.  Your recovery time will be increased, as will the chance for complications.  This should be avoided.  You only actually want to remove small parts of fat.  Because fat is removed from localized areas, even small amounts of fat can make a big difference.

Excessive liposuction can also be in the form of removing fat from too many body parts in one day.  If you have several areas of your body that need liposuction, they should not all be done at once.  While it may seem easier to get them done at once, you are increasing your chance of complications.  Some doctors will tell you it is easier to remove fat from different body parts at one time.  It may be easier for the surgeon, but it is not safer for the patient.  Therefore, you do not want to have fat removed from too many parts during one surgery.

Excessive liposuction can also involve pairing liposuction with too many other invasive procedures.  Many times, plastic surgeons think it will be better to get all the surgery done at once, but that is often not the case.  If you have multiple plastic surgeries you intend on getting done, schedule them for different times.  You will then be able to have an easier operation and recovery.

Excessive liposuction can be avoided by doing two things.  First, talk to your surgeon.  Let him know your concerns about excessive liposuction.  Tell him you are not interesting in taking that kind of risk.  He will then understand your needs in regards to the process.

Second, schedule additional appointments instead of getting everything done at once.  While you might have to come back to get your procedures done that is much better than having complications by having too much done at one time.

When you have plastic surgery, you want to make sure you have as safe of a time as possible.  There are things you can do to improve your safety, and eliminating excessive liposuction is one of them.
