The Liposuction Consultation: Information You will Need

When you are preparing to go into a consultation for liposuction, there are certain things you can do in order to prepare.  Your doctor is going to need certain information from you, and if you have that information ready you will be well on your way to getting the procedure done.

While each plastic surgeon will differ in regards to the information they need, there are certain things that almost all surgeons will ask for.  By making a list and being prepared, you will be able to answer his questions easily.

First, he is going to want to know why you want the surgery done.  He wants to make sure you want it done for the right reasons.  If you are not mentally or emotionally stable, it might not be right for you.  He will evaluate your answer to make sure your expectations are in the right place.

If you are looking at the surgery as a way to make yourself happy, the plastic surgeon will have to explain your expectations to you.  He will help you understand the surgery alone will not be able to make your happy.  Instead, there are many factors that must go into your happiness.

He is also going to want to know about your medial conditions.  If you have any type of condition, be sure to let the plastic surgeon know.  You do not want to put yourself at risk.  Having a condition does not necessarily mean you will not be able to get liposuction.  At the same time, your doctor needs to know.

He will also need to know of any allergies you have.  This is very important.  You will undergo anesthesia for the procedure and he will need to ensure that will be safe for you.  Therefore, if you are allergic to anything, you will need to let the surgeon know.  He will then be able to find out if your allergies will interfere with the anesthesia.

Your alcohol and drug use is also going to be discussed.  You must be honest.  Often, people do not like to disclose this information, but it is essential for your wellbeing.  If you are going to have a successful procedure, honesty is key. If you use illegal drugs, you need to let your doctor know, just as you need to tell him about your drinking habits.  The surgery will go much better if you are upfront.

Also be prepared to discuss the areas of your body you are not happy with.  He will likely take photographs of those areas, so you need to be prepared.  The photographs will give him something to study and put in your file prior to the procedure.  By looking at the photographs, he will be able to decide the course of action that he needs to take in order to improve your physical appearance.

You need to be as honest and prepared as possible for your consolation.  You want to make sure you get the most out of your surgery, and you can do that by being open with the plastic surgeon.
