History of Liposuction

Liposuction has become one of the most used forms of cosmetic surgery in the USA and around the world.  There have been many advances in the procedure that have made it more safe and affordable.

Liposuction is a relatively new procedure as far at cosmetic surgery goes.  The actual facts about the history of liposuction are quite cloudy.  The first record of a doctor using suction to remove fat goes back to the early 1920s.  Charles Dujarier tried this revolutionary technique on a Middle Eastern model.  Because of complications, she ended up dying.  This quickly put a stop to the use of liposuction for a number of years.

It took till the early 1970s to see the revival of liposuction.  People were looking for a quick, easy way to shed extra fat.  Many doctors tried to insert a small vacuum device into the patient's midsection.  This often caused more problems than solutions.

With today's technology, liposuction has taken on a completely new face.  Smart liposuction utilizes the convenience of traditional liposuction without the ugly scar and long recovery time.  The doctors of today truly owe their success to the original physicians that pushed the limits with this type of cosmetic surgery.
