Compared to the traditional liposuction procedure of before, SmartLipo claims to be less invasive, more effective, and provides speedier recovery for the patient. It uses laser technology that melts away the fat, lessens bleeding, and eliminates the sagging and droopy skin that is usually left after. When I read about it, I could hardly believe it was true until I got to try it out for myself.
I scheduled a day off from work to get the procedure. I got the name of the doctor from a friend who recently underwent SmartLipo herself. I went in to have my stomach fat removed. I have had problems in that area ever since I could remember. It got even worse when I started working; all those long hours sitting at your desk and being inactive. I admit that my eating habits didn't help one bit and I was always too lazy to exercise. If I ever did get the energy to work out, it would only last up to three weeks until I'm back to my old habits again.
Anyway, I lay down, was given a local anesthesia and was wide awake during the entire process. I heard the machine humming but I didn't feel any discomfort or pain. I was actually giggly at one time, imagining my flesh being burned but I didn't see any dark marks or burns on my skin. Afterwards, I got a bit groggy and had to get a taxi back home. My stomach felt sore and I took some Tylenol to help with the discomfort. It got better after some time and I fell asleep for almost an hour.
I couldn't wait for the bandages to come off, I actually kept picking at the sides to take little peeks but it was after a week when the bandages really came off that I got the see the effects. There was little swelling but I could already see the reduction and there was no sagging skin left. The doctor was very good at making the incision where it couldn't really be seen unless you come up real close but I was assured that this would eventually heal and fade. Now, I catch myself taking deep breaths and running my hand over my stomach, feeling how smooth and flat it is. Getting SmartLipo is one of the best decisions I had ever made.
