Smart Lipo Safety and Complications

Safety is always at the forefront of patients’ minds when they take part in a surgery.  Even the most minor of surgeries need to be explored so people know what to expect in regards to possible complications.  In order to go into the process with the best mindset and expectation level possible, the safety of the smart lipo surgery must be explored.  That is true for every procedure, including smart lipo.

Even though there have not been any serious issues with the procedure since it received FDA clearance in 2006, that does not mean that people who are interested in the procedure should not still explore the risks in order to decide if the surgery is something they would like to have.

With any surgery, there are chances of complications.  While the complications are at a minimum, they must still be explored.  By exploring the possible complications, people can make an informed decision in regards to the surgery.  They will be able to decide if it is right for them.

Any time a surgery occurs there is a risk of infection.  It is important to realize, though, that the chances of infection after undergoing smart lipo are tremendously slim.  There are procedures put in place in order to keep infection from occurring.

People also need to realize there will be some bruising and swelling they will have after the procedure.  It is important to note, though, that in most cases this is kept at a minimum.  It depends on the skill level of the surgeon, but many are able to use techniques that will keep the bruising and swelling down.

In most cases, the bruising and swelling will be completely gone within a week.  Most people stop having any pain at all within that time frame.  Those who have more pain can use prescribed pain medication in order to alleviate the discomfort.

Blood clots are also listed as a possible side effect with the procedure.  Again, this side effect is not common.  Compression bandages are used after the surgery in order to lower the risk of having a blood clot.  While it is a very unusual risk, it is still a good idea to be aware of the possibility.

Smart lipo has been proven as a much safer method for liposuction.  However, it is important for people to realize that with any surgery, there will be a certain amount of risks involved, so patients need to be educated on the procedure so they can make the best decision for them.

Patients also need to realize they can minimize the risks even further by finding an experienced surgeon.  Experienced surgeons are able to decrease bruising and swelling, as well as minimize the other risks.  Because they have done many procedures in the past, they know what to expect and how to perform the surgery in the safest way possible.

Most patients are able to go through the surgery without any serious complications.  In most cases, patients are able to go home the same day of the surgery and resume their normal lives by the next day.
